Hussain Sajwani is the chairman and founder of DAMAC properties- a luxury real-estate development company. This company has risen from its humble beginnings to become a global leader in real estate development. Following the amendment of the law to allow foreigners to own property in Dubai, Hussain Sajwani saw a business opportunity and seized it. He swiftly leapt into action and launched DAMAC Properties. Initially he started by opening a few luxury hotels before he fully dived into the real estate development world.
Entrepreneurship has always come naturally to Hussain Sajwani. In fact, he reckons he adopted some of his business skills from his father who was also an entrepreneur. When he was still young, he would work at his family’s watch shop. When he finally decided to step into the business world, he started by launching a catering business. He often says that the catering business was a good opportunity to make millions but not billions. That is why he eventually ventured into real estate development.
Hussain Sajwani launched DAMAC Properties in the early 2000s. What started out as a humble real estate company has since grown and flourished. Today, DAMAC Properties is available in various parts of the world such as the Middle East and even the UK. This company has more than 2000 employees under its wings. Hussain Sajwani admits that the hardest decision he ever had to make in running the business was when he decided to go public with his business.
While some may say that DAMAC Properties has risen and grown very fast, others would say that the company was bound to succeed due to several factors key of which is its talented and business savvy founder –Hussain Sajwani. His ability to identify unique opportunities and work fast on them placed DAMAC Properties in a position to succeed. Since its inception, the company has developed over 17,900 homes and 44,000 housing units.
Hussain Sajwani is a graduate from Washington University. Unlike what many people assume, he started off his career as a Contracts Manager at GASCO. However, he soon left to start his catering business which eventually led him to launch DAMAC Properties.
