Born in 1979 in Sau Paulo, Michel Terpins grew up in a family that valued sports. His father, Jack Terpins had been a professional basketball player in his early years and had played for some top-flight clubs as well as represented the country in a number of events. This passion for sports had been nurtured in his sons, and it was thus no surprise when Michel Terpins decided to become a competitive rally driver in his twenties.
Before becoming a driver, he had been a cross country champion. Rodrigo joined the cross country in his late teens and had been able to grow his talent over the years to become one of the best in the sport in Brazil. His father was very supportive and in fact, had bought him his first bike to compete in. As the years went by it became clear that he was destined for greater things and following his cross-country championship, his brother Rodrigo Terpins began leaning on him to join him as a rally driver. He would eventually carve into the pressure and in 2002 joined him.
Michel Terpins and his brother Rodrigo Terpins immediately established the Bull Sertoes Rally team. This would become the team they would compete in as professionals. The initial years were marked by a number of challenges, including lack of sponsors and lack of an official racing car. As the years went by the team became more established, and they were able to bring in more members to allow professionalization of the team. At this point, they had been able to attract a number of sponsors, and this is when MEM Motorsport approached them. They came to an agreement that saw the corporation develop the T-Rex which to date remains their official racing car. The T-Rex competes in the T1 Prototype category where Michel Terpins has become a top performer. You can chek out Terra for more.
